Match report Typical early season condition, slightly damp pitch, uneven surface, cloudy condition, with occasional low bounce.

First game of the season for the 4ths did not turn out well against mix of young and experienced opposition. Ompsby scoring 50 and young Ahmed scoring 34 given Loughton 5th excellent start to build on. Sensible bowling by Vijay and quick wickets from Gurmit helped to keep the score at 165 for 10 of the allocated 45 overs. As always Shanker bowled well and senior Parkonian Shahid contributed well.Overall it was a decent bowling performance under these conditions.

Old parks looked strong on paper but simply failing to bat was costly. Chasing 165 parks were all out for 70 with plenty of overs in hand. Only 2 players getting into double figures. Maran 25 and Karuna 10. Loughton’s youngsters bowled well, notably Gibson.


Luke was probably the best fielder on the ground for parks. He took a brilliant catch and was looking good with the bat. Poor decision making by the umpire provided by the opposition spoiled the day for Luke and few other batsman. Benefit of any doubts simply did not go to batsman. If the old parks batting was poor then the neutral umpire’s decisions were unbelievable and difficult to accept.

Overall a bad first day on the field for the team. Sensible and patient batting will be required from parks during early season. I am sure the boys are looking forward putting things right next week.
