Match report OPCC 4th XI beat Waltham stow 4th XI by 77 runs at home 28 May 2016

OPCC 4th XI 220 for 9 in 45 overs, Walthamstow 143 all out in 41 overs.

Parks clinched an emphatic win over Walthamstow 4th XI on the last ball of the game as Parks skipper Vijay Vijayanathan bowled the last man out in the league game played at Oakfield.

Parks were put into bat first on a difficult wicket; openers Dan Shalom and Y Karuna batted well and produced a good opening partnership of 70 runs in 19 overs. After Karuna was dismissed for a well crafted 24 Adam Goldman joined the in-form batsman Dan Shalom and both produced another valuable partnership of 78 which brought the score to 151 after 31 overs. Both batsmen (Dan 79 & Adam 42) played sensibly under the difficult conditions to enable Parks to finish on 220 for 9 in 45 overs. I Ahmad for Walthamstow bowled well and took 4 wickets for 29 runs in his spell of 6 overs.

In reply Walthamstow started well as the openers Dave Elliot and Daood Dhami put on 92 runs in their opening partnership and looked to taking the game away from Parks, particularly Dhami batted superbly and scored 73. Opening bowlers Adam Goldman and Shankar Manicks had no success despite a good attacking spell from them. The breakthrough came when Parks skipper came into bowling and Waltham stow failed to capitalize on a good start as they were all out for 143 in 41 overs. Vijay Vijayanathan (9-3-14-5) and Subash Patel (7-0-14-3) were the main bowlers for Parks; however the victory would not have been possible without the whole team’s effort.
