Match report It is always going to be tough going into a game against a local rival, and this was no exception. Winning the toss was very useful, and Parks had no hesitation in sending Ilford in to bat on an overcast afternoon. Despite some persistent bowling however, Ilford weathered the storm, and were able to make an assault towards the end of their innings, largely thanks to Parthiban Varadarajan (101). Parks bowling owed much to Club Captain Amit Kalley (2/53) and Mazham Ali (4/57), who bowled the bulk of the overs. Amar Thanki also bowled well for his 2/43.

Set a stiff target of 224 to win, Parks felt confident in their batting. It has not really let them down often this year and strengthened with some returning young talent, they went about making good progress against the opening attack. Dan Shalom played excellently in his first call up from the 4s. He ended up being run out on 71, otherwise he probably would have made three figures.

At the other end, Faisal Choudary (41) again showed his talents after last weeks half century, and Usman Rafiq, ever the rock at number 3, produced an important 47. Gurmit Bhatia, the elder statesman of the 3s, smashed 35 in no time at all, taking 20 off one over, to help Parks cruise to what was a comfortable but hard grafting victory.
