Match report This performance was so unlike all the previous from the U19s as they were totally outplayed by a strong Five & Heronians side, who only had 10 players. Fives won the toss and put OPCC into bat, who made a very slow start and after 7 overs they were only 38 for 3 and then 70 for 4 after 12 overs. Only through the captain (Vikram Handa) madding a quickfire 26 before he was run out as a result of a terrible mix up and some powerful hitting from Kabir Matwala who made 49 (which included three 6s) and 28no from Sifth Ali saw OPCC reach 144 for 6 off their 20 overs.
The score always looked about 30/40 runs too light on a small ground with a very fast outfield and so it proved as Fives sailed to the target in only 17.3 over, with the loss of only 3 wickets. All the bowlers suffered at the hands of some excellent batting by the opposition’s top order but things may have been different if a catch had been taken near the start of the Five’s inning but it was not to be. Having said that, OPCC did not deserve to win this game as they were a distance second best in all three departments and they quickly need to get this out of their system and get back to winning ways as they still have 2 more games to play and there is still an outstanding chance of them qualifying but it looks unlikely.
