Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won By 97 runs

Match report Manager report-
Having lost last week the young Parkonians were simply asked to bounce back in a manner befitting the talent with-in this age group. Playing a strong Ilford U16 team, which included amongst them 4 county players, OPCC put a display of true brilliance for all present. The weather and cricket were simply sublime.
OPCC captain Dhruv Patel, having won the toss decided to bat first. Opening with the usual U16 openers Arun Kullar and Teereth Dolcee, OPCC lost both player early on in the innings. Next in Paran Kalley & Dhruv Patel, both batted with class and ease to put on a 97 run partnership. Just when most people believed that both these talented players were going to get 100’s, Dhruv Patel got run out for 46. Next in Ronan Karuna batted well for his 31, and being solid at one end helped Paran to play the innings of a life time. Paran batting with maturity and class, beyond his age, went onto make 171; yes you did read this correctly – 171. The innings was played all round the pitch, with 20 four and 4 huge sixes. My favourite being the huge six over mid-off, of the County academy fast bowler. Unless you were at the pitch there is really no words to describe this mature innings by such a young boy. I simply say it was an innings that will be talked about for many years to come at OPCC and beyond. After Paran's departure all incoming batsmen played for the team and managed to push the innings to a formidable total of 315.
In reply Ilford CC were never in the hunt, and managed only to get 218 all out of 38.4 overs. Captain Dhruv Patel, made the most of the total on the board by bowling 10 different bowlers on the day. The pick of the bowlers on the day being Arun Kullar, bowling off spin, managed to finish with (8-0-38-3). Sahil Handa and Paresh Kalley chipping in with 2 wickets each.
In the end OPCC winning by 97 runs.
Although this ends this years matchplay campaign, the performances of all the youngsters bounds well for next years campaign. I'm quite confident, that given the same mix of players next year, and just maybe a little luck, we would definitely be able to do better than this year.
