Match report A game of two halves.

Parks won the toss and choose to bat on slightly overcast conditions. However, with a strong batting line up in the side and a spin attack who has got a large number of wickets there was a confidence of obtaining the right result.

Unfortunately Parks started badly with Harry Markatis & Jibran Azam falling for ducks. A small consolidation from Shane Vamadevan (26), however two quick wickets well when Shane skied a slower ball and James Foley snicked off early for zero. Then came a masterclass batting partnership, possibly the best of the season. 155 runs in 23 overs, free flowing counter attacking cricket. The partnership had all on their seats. Rushan Pandya (51) got his maiden half century for the year and looked in control, but the real star of the show was Haris Khan (150 not out), who bludgeoned his 150 from 138 balls, getting his 100 in 85 balls. A superb innings where he didn't give a chance until well within his 100's. Parks declared on 275 from 47 overs, going for the win. In hindsight, giving Westcliff, an experienced league cricket side a sniff didn't prove to be the right decision.

Vikram Handa (5-1-27-2) started well taking two early wickets, getting the first class experienced Zimbabwe U19 player Simon Mugava. However Parks then never got on top and let too many runs go, trying to entice Westcliff to score runs to stay in the game. Partnerships of 44, 58, 27 & 85 led Westcliff to a win on the penultimate over. Jibran Azam and Shubhang Mehta toiled hard, but some loose overs from others and 37 extras (including 18 wides) meant Parks didn't do enough.

A valiant effort, the right intent, but poor execution against a side who has played higher levels of cricket. Good experience for the team to take into the coming weeks. A win next week looks crucial as Parks remain in 2nd with the table however tightening below them.
