Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost by 164 runs

Match report OPCC lost the toss and a strong Roding Valley elected to bat first without hesitation.

Before starting the match both teams observed a minute’s silence at the tragic loss of club mate young 17 year old Ayman in a tragic drowning at beach accident and both teams sent their condolences to the bereaved family.

The opposition had some hard hitters and a weak OPCC on paper, fielding four colts, resulted in Roding Valley getting to 100 for no wicket in 8 overs and 180 for 2 after 20 overs. However OPCC continued to battle hard and the colts stayed the course , did really well ,fielding in tough conditions and Roding Valley were bowled out for 364 in 37.5 overs . Their star batter was number three batter Mohit Gupta who scored 104, the opening pair Imran Hossein and Imran Rumel scoring 76 and 70 respectively, putting on 147 for the first wicket. Mazam bowled a splendid spell of 5/37 in 5.5 overs and colt Tivain claimed 2/48 . With no wicket keeper available Waqar readily volunteered and claimed 5 dismissals, 3 stumpings and 2 catches, it may the best so far this season in 5th and 6th X1.

OPCC batted well despite losing three early wickets, the mainstay being a very determined Waqar who refused to give in and scored a superb 67 not out batting number 4 and Kunal’s brisk 32 kept OPCC going towards their target of maximum bowling and batting points. In the end OPCC got to 200 for 9, the unbeaten last wicket partnership between Waqar and Shahid adding 32 useful runs to help get full batting points ,meaning 8 points in total despite losing by 164 runs to a really strong opposition.
