Match report Oakfield Parkonians 4th XI were forced to settle for a draw despite dominating large parts of the game against Walthamstow CC 3rd XI. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Oakfield posted a competitive 265/8 from their 50 overs. Sayem Ahmed anchored the innings superbly with a composed 91 from 114 balls, while Lakshmi Narayanan provided the late acceleration with a blistering 55 from just 33 deliveries. Useful contributions from Suyesh Agrawal (39), Mark Gager (21) and Aayush Desai (17) helped Oakfield finish with an imposing total.

In reply, Walthamstow never seriously threatened the target but showed great determination to bat out the game. Ethan Bell led the resistance with a patient 44 from 95 balls, while Don Isuru occupied the crease for 77 deliveries in making 16, frustrating the Oakfield bowlers for much of the afternoon. Irfaan Shaikh then added an unbeaten 28 from just 18 balls late in the innings to ensure there would be no late collapse.

Oakfield’s bowlers worked tirelessly in search of the remaining wickets. Lakshmi Narayanan was the standout performer with excellent figures of 3 for 33 from 12 overs, while Mazhar Minhas claimed 2 for 21 in a miserly spell that included four maidens. Kavinkumar Veloopillai also chipped in with a wicket as Walthamstow finished on 144/6 after 45 overs.

Although Oakfield were well on top throughout and kept the chase under control, they were unable to bowl Walthamstow out before the allotted match time expired. As a result, the contest ended in a draw, with Oakfield taking 10 points and Walthamstow earning 4 for their stubborn rearguard effort.
