Match report Oakfield Parkonians secured a confident 5-wicket victory over Orsett & Thurrock, with a disciplined bowling display setting up a chase that was completed with some authority — capped off by a typically explosive finish from captain Fazan Habib.

Orsett & Thurrock's innings never fully got away from Parkonians, despite some stubborn contributions throughout the order. Jack Hart and Rohan Pandit laid a steady platform — 36 and 39 respectively — before Mark O'Neill threatened to accelerate things dramatically, crashing 39 off just 32 balls including 7 fours and a six. However, Parkonians kept taking wickets at regular intervals to prevent any real carnage. Upender Sanga was outstanding, claiming 5 for 58 from 13.4 overs in another match-defining spell — his ability to consistently take wickets in the middle overs has been one of the highlights of Parkonians' season. Praven Sureshen was equally excellent alongside him, finishing with 4 for 43 from 8 overs to wrap up the tail efficiently. Between them, the pair claimed 9 of the 10 wickets to fall as Orsett & Thurrock were dismissed for 161 in 40.4 overs. Sachin Arora's miserly opening spell of 0 for 11 from 7 overs — including 2 maidens — set the tone perfectly and kept the pressure on from the outset.

Parkonians' reply was positive from the outset. Ayaan Usman caught the eye with a blistering 42 off just 35 balls — 8 fours — giving the chase immediate momentum, while Umesh Jinka contributed a solid 34 at the top of the order. Akhil Patel kept things ticking with 24 before Shourish Subramaniam made inroads to peg Parkonians back briefly. With the finish line in sight, Fazan Habib strode to the crease and settled the matter in emphatic fashion, smashing an unbeaten 31 off just 19 balls — 4 fours and 2 sixes — to knock off the remaining runs at a strike rate of over 163. Aren Parmar provided calm support at the other end with 11 not out as Parkonians reached 165 for 5, securing the win with a flourish that will have pleased the dressing room enormously.

A thoroughly convincing team performance, with the bowling and fielding laying the foundation and the batting finishing the job without ever looking in serious trouble. The combination of Upender Sanga and Praven Sureshen with the ball is proving to be one of the most potent in the division, and Habib's finishing ability with the bat continues to be a valuable asset lower down the order. A good day all round.
