Match report Oakfield Parkonians CC produced a commanding all-round performance to secure an emphatic 194-run victory over Hornchurch Athletic CC after posting a formidable 317 for 2 declared from 45 overs before bowling their opponents out for just 123.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Oakfield got off to a cautious start and suffered an early setback when Bilaal Anwar was caught by Sam Samarasekera off Nathan Duke for 5, leaving the hosts at 6 for 1 in the third over. However, that wicket only brought together the match-defining partnership between Shahariyar Chaudhry and Ryan Karunakaran. The pair rebuilt expertly before accelerating through the middle overs. Karunakaran played a superb supporting role, striking 90 from 102 balls, including 11 boundaries and a six. He punished anything loose from the Hornchurch bowlers and looked well set for a century before being trapped lbw by Duke in the 39th over with the score on 227. The innings, however, belonged to Shahariyar Chaudhry. Producing one of the finest knocks of the season, he remained unbeaten on a magnificent 200 from just 145 deliveries. His breathtaking innings featured 23 fours and 10 sixes, combining elegance with brutal power as he dominated the attack. Chaudhry accelerated dramatically in the final overs, taking full advantage of a tiring bowling unit and ensuring Oakfield posted an imposing total. With Manoj Sarathchandra Dinayadura contributing an unbeaten 8, Oakfield declared on 317 for 2 after 45 overs. Nathan Duke was the pick of the Hornchurch bowlers with 2 for 80 from his 13 overs, while the remaining bowlers struggled to contain the relentless scoring rate.

Facing a daunting chase of 318, Hornchurch immediately found themselves under pressure from Oakfield's disciplined bowling attack. Luke Pontin fell lbw to Sifth Ali for a duck before Sam Samarasekera was bowled by Taranpreet Bhatia shortly afterwards. When Philip Goldstone departed for 8, Hornchurch had slumped to 21 for 3. Josh Telemaque counterattacked impressively, scoring 32 from just 22 balls with seven boundaries, while Alfie Horan added 30 from 30 deliveries. Their positive approach briefly gave Hornchurch some momentum, but Oakfield quickly regained control. The chief destroyer was Sifth Ali, who delivered a match-winning spell. Bowling with pace, accuracy and aggression, he claimed outstanding figures of 5 for 50 from 11 overs. Ali removed Telemaque, Horan, Dave Rai and Nathan Duke, repeatedly breaking crucial partnerships and preventing Hornchurch from building any sustained challenge. Bhatia provided excellent support with 2 for 36, while Paran Kalley claimed the wicket of Fazi Hussain to leave the visitors seven down. Navine Sureshan then wrapped up the innings with two late wickets, including the final dismissal of Noragal De Silva, caught by Umar Choudhry. Liam Whitaker offered resistance with an unbeaten 19, but the chase never seriously threatened Oakfield's dominant position. Hornchurch were eventually dismissed for 123 in the final over of the innings, giving Oakfield a comprehensive victory.

The result was built on Chaudhry's remarkable unbeaten double century and backed up by a ruthless bowling display led by Ali's five-wicket haul. It was a complete team performance from Oakfield Parkonians, who collected maximum points and underlined their strength with one of their most convincing wins of the campaign.
