On a warm Saturday afternoon at Oakfield Playing Fields, the 4th XI delivered a confident all-round performance to claim a 57-run victory over Chingford’s 4th XI in a 40-over league encounter.



Captain for the day won the toss and made the right call by choosing to bat first on a good-looking pitch. The innings got off to a steady start, with openers setting the tone before Aryan Desai Jnr anchored the top order with a composed 60 off 69 balls. He played the sheet-anchor role perfectly, rotating the strike and allowing others to bat around him.



In the middle overs, Umesh Jinka played a vital hand, scoring 47 off 65 balls, stabilising the innings further after a few quick wickets. However, it was Fahad Yusaf who really took the innings by the scruff of the neck. Coming in with momentum building, Fahad went after the bowling, racing to 65 not out off just 53 balls, including nine boundaries. His aggressive intent late in the innings pushed Oakfield to a commanding total of 265 for 8 from their 40 overs.



Chingford struggled with discipline throughout the innings, gifting 46 extras, including 20 wides and 6 no-balls—runs they could ill afford to concede.



In reply, Chingford’s chase never quite got going. While Freddie Cox showed some resistance with a gritty 47, and Mano Biswas contributed a well-made 33, the Oakfield bowlers kept a tight lid on the scoring. Wickets fell at crucial intervals, and the required run rate steadily climbed beyond reach.



Lakshmi Narayanan bowled with excellent control, returning figures of 1 for 22 from his full quota of 8 overs, including two maidens. He kept the pressure on throughout, making scoring difficult. Siddharth Barua was the main wicket-taker, picking up 2 for 35, including some key middle-order dismissals. A sharp run-out and tidy work in the field ensured that Chingford could only manage 208 for 6, handing Oakfield a well-earned 57-run win.



It was a clinical and professional display from the 4th XI—one built on smart batting, disciplined bowling, and teamwork across the park. The win secures 20 valuable points, with Chingford taking home 7 from the fixture.
