Match report Oakfield Parkonians 1st XI secured a dominant 94-run victory over Belhus CC in their latest Essex League fixture after a commanding batting display, led by a century from Eknath Dinesh Kerkar and a clinical bowling effort spearheaded by Paran Kalley.

Winning the toss and electing to bat on a good-looking surface, Oakfield Parkonians got off to a measured start. Opener Faisal Bhatti looked in fluent touch, stroking four boundaries in his 21 before falling to a sharp return catch by Dylan Sinfield. His opening partner Paresh Kalley struggled to find rhythm, eventually departing for 9 off 34 balls. The innings gained momentum when Aman Ali (55 off 79) joined Kerkar at the crease. The pair added a crucial 86-run partnership for the third wicket. Ali rotated the strike smartly while Kerkar took control, building his innings with elegant strokeplay. He accelerated brilliantly in the latter stages, finishing unbeaten on a masterful 110 off just 92 deliveries, laced with 11 boundaries and two sixes. Useful cameos from Eshun Kalley (19) and a late flourish by Klain Fernando (22* off 13) pushed the home side to an imposing 250 for 6 declared in 47 overs. Among Belhus’ bowlers, Dylan Sinfield was the pick, finishing with 3 for 45, while Louie Mailey chipped in with 2 for 57.

Chasing 251 for victory, Belhus began with hope as opener Salman Khan anchored the innings with a solid 55 from 69 balls, including eight fours and a six. However, wickets fell regularly around him, with Eshun Kalley removing both openers Lewis Blake (12) and Riley Everett (9) to dent the top order. The turning point came when Paran Kalley was introduced into the attack. He delivered a devastating spell of medium pace, ripping through the middle and lower order to claim 5 for 37 from 13 overs, including the crucial wickets of Sinfield, Winter, Mir, Waters, and Webb. Ryan Wells (23) and Henry Overy (26) showed resistance, but once they fell, the chase fizzled out quickly. Belhus were eventually bowled out for 156 in 38 overs. Eshun Kalley ended with impressive figures of 3 for 52, while Paresh Kalley also chipped in with a wicket. Paran Kalley’s five-wicket haul earned him the plaudits for his clinical bowling that wrapped up the win.

This comprehensive victory earned Oakfield Parkonians 25 league points and underlined their strong form heading into the latter stages of the season. The all-round performance — highlighted by Kerkar’s century and Kalley’s five-for — left Belhus well short of the target and provided a boost to Oakfield’s campaign.
