Match report Oakfield Parkonians produced a commanding all-round performance to secure a 98-run victory over Harold Wood. After being asked to bat first, with the conditions favouring the bowling and rain being a constant factor, Oakfield piled on an imposing 294 for 7 in their 50 overs, before dismantling the Harold Wood batting lineup for 196 in just 37.3 overs.

The innings was anchored superbly by Eknath Kerkar, who carried his bat with a composed and classy 121 off 135 balls*, including 16 fours and three sixes. Despite early setbacks — losing Shahariyar Chaudhry for a duck and Viraj Khagram for 12 — Kerkar rebuilt the innings alongside Umar Choudhry (40 off 73), before launching into a devastating 100-run stand with the explosive Eshun Kalley, who blazed 86 off just 43 balls, peppering the boundary with eight fours and seven sixes. A late flurry added quick runs despite a minor collapse, but Oakfield still managed to post a mammoth total of 294, thanks to Eknath's anchoring role and Eshun's onslaught. The score the boys finished with we felt was well above par and put us in a good position going into the halftime break.

In reply, Harold Wood’s chase got off to the worst possible start as both their openers fell for ducks in the opening overs, both dismissed by Viraj Khagram (2/35). Wickets continued to tumble as the visitors slumped to 27 for 3, but while their overseas was still in, their hopes were alive. He finished with a counter-attacking 76 off 64 balls, playing some fluent strokes in a lone resistance effort. He found brief support in Craig Sampson (32 off 17) and Shahbaz Khan (25 off 29), but the Oakfield bowlers kept the pressure on. Paran Kalley was the pick of the attack, claiming 4 wickets for 40 runs in a match-winning spell, while Prajen Kavinkumar chipped in with 2/40 to help wrap up the innings. Oakfield’s sharp fielding and disciplined bowling ensured there was no route back for Harold Wood, who ultimately crumbled for 196.
