Match report The Sunday XI after a couple of weeks without a league fixture returned for a home match against top of the table Upminster, well aware that they would face a stern test ahead. Captain Krishan Dilipkumar won the toss on a windy but warm day and elected to have a bat first.

Upminster started tightly with the ball and bowled with great control to begin with. The loss of an early wicket brought Umesh Jinka into the middle with Faisal Bhatti, who batted with skill and class to make an elegant 28. As he fell Rian Parmar came in and played a disciplined innings against a strong Upminster attack to bring up his first 50 in senior league cricket. His strong strike rotation meant that the side were able to keep the scoring rate ticking along at a healthy rate. Yet the star of the show as ever was Faisal Bhatti who made a tremendous 91, finding boundaries with ease and pacing his innings to perfection. His brilliant batting enabled Parks to make a fairly competitive score of 218 on what looked a decent deck to bat on especially with the outfield being lightning quick.

Suyash Agarwal and Gowtham Sanga bowled in challenging areas which made scoring difficult early for the Upminster openers. Yet the Upminster opener Muhammed Ahmed batted very nicely for his 71 with excellent manipulation of the field and finding gaps around the field. It all seemed to be going rather swimmingly for Upminster till the introduction of Aryan Desai and Praven Sureshan which turned the game around completely. Pressure built by Aryan and the wicket taking ability of Praven meant that Upminster collapsed from 81-2 to 115-5. A strong fielding effort from the lads with a good amount of catches taken meant that Parks were able to take the driving seat and were comfortable winners in the end with 4 wickets for both Aryan and Praven.

It was a very good game for the side and a great win for the confidence of our players to win against the league leaders as we head into the business end of the season with a packed July and August, with a high placed finish looking possible!
