Match report OPPC 4s tied with West Essex 4s

On a sunny day, Parks visited West Essex for their second game of the season. Upon winning the toss, the Parks captain chose to field first. Parks opened the bowling with debutant Mazhar Minhas (8-1-0-31) and Upender Sanga (8-1-13-2), both of whom bowled effectively to restrict the scoring rate. First-change bowler Kavinkumar Veloopillai (8-3-7-1) continued his excellent form, conceding only 7 runs in his allotted 8 overs. Yash Patel (4-0-25-2) picked up two lower-order wickets, and the opposition ended their innings at 168 for 6 wickets. For West Essex, opener Miftha Islam top-scored with 59.

In response, Parks opened with Suryasangara Narayan (16 off 38) and debutant colt Awn Minhas (8 off 38), both of whom took their time to settle in. However, Parks lost quick wickets and found themselves at 51-5 after the first 20 overs. Upender Sanga, batting at number 4, stepped up and played the innings of the match, scoring a scintillating 70. Hassam Jamil (21*) and Aryan Desai (15) provided some lower-order momentum as Parks edged closer to the target. With 163-6 at the end of the 39th over and just 6 runs needed from the final over, Hassam and Mazhar Minhas aimed to secure the win. However, in a nail-biting finish, the pair managed to tie the match, and Parks ended with 168-8 sharing the points with the opposition.

A very close game with some good individual performances. Overall, Parks need to improve on their batting as a team to compete in the upcoming challenges.
