Frenford v Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 20 Jul 2024 at 12.30pm
Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets

Match report Parks traveled with arguably their strongest lineup on paper so far to face high-flying Frenford, who were unbeaten since Gameweek 3, having only previously lost one game to table-topping Chingford.

Frenford won the toss and elected to bat first. Parks started well with the ball, preventing the batsmen from getting off to a flying start on a ground and pitch known for high-scoring games. After taking a couple of early wickets thanks to good opening spells from Janeban and Jigar, Frenford fought back well with Rahul Kainth batting aggressively for his 62. Praven got the key breakthrough when Rahul was caught behind, and from then on, Parks controlled the game by bowling disciplined lines and lengths, picking up wickets regularly. Praven held up one end while both Janeban and Jigar picked up regular wickets, finishing with 4 wickets each. They were well supported by the ever-improving Praven, who took two crucial wickets. The bowlers were backed up well in the field, with Parks taking a total of 7 catches (with two excellent catches behind the stumps from Alan B who kept superbly despite not feeling 100%) to restrict Frenford to an under-par score of 186.

Parks welcomed back Reuben to the lineup, who was playing his first league game of the season. Despite losing Chetan early to an unlucky edge down the leg side, Parks got off to a good start. Reuben and Akhil batted both sensibly and with positive intent. Reuben got his eye in and played a classy knock, defending with great technique when required but also accelerating and dismantling the opposition attack to knock Frenford's confidence and boost Parks' chances of a major victory. Reuben hit some monstrous sixes on his way to scoring 85, a top innings against a good bowling attack. He was well supported by Akhil (31) and Nikith (33), securing Parks a comfortable 4-wicket win in the end.

This was a great team performance with contributions from almost everyone, hitting the mark across all three disciplines: bowling, fielding, and batting. Parks go to Hornchurch away next week full of confidence, hoping to continue climbing up the table and remain in the hunt for promotion this season.
