Match report The Oakfield Parkonians U16 team travelled to Chelmsford for the second match of their Matchplay season. Captain Krishan Dilipkumar lost the toss and Parks were sent in to bowl on what was possibly one of the warmest days of the year.

Charith Jatia and Vajran Srividynandan opening the bowling created great pressure right from the offset with only 30 runs being scored from the first 9 overs. The introduction of the spin bowlers with Nikhil Mukherjee and Prajen Kavinkumar saw Chelmsford start to lose wickets in a tumble with Nikhil taking 3 fine wickets and Prajen the two wickets, both catches off Captain Krishan. The opposition captain Ben Lawrence came in and played a brilliant innings of 60 to take Chelmsford to what seemed a slightly below-par total of 193.

Krishan Dilipkumar (24) and Sheharyar Chaudhry (24) got Parks off to a blistering start with the bat running hard and finding the boundary with ease taking Parks to 60 runs within 7 overs. Ali Khan (48*) and Mannan Arora (59) then took the chase to the opposition and played fantastically well together with great rotation of strike and boundary hitting in what were certainly difficult conditions with the heat managing to keep the run rate at just a tad below 7.

In the end it was a convincing win for the U16s which sends them to the top of their group with 2 games still left to be played.
