Match report On the back of two back-to-back wins, Parks went into this fixture with full of confidence with a mix of youth (four colts) and experience! Winning the toss, Parks invited the visitors to bat first on a slightly damp pitch. Parks opening bowlers Manicks Shankar (6-2-15-1) and the ‘new speed-kid in town’ SriRaman Srividyanathan (8-2-25-2) made scoring extremely difficult for the Ardleigh Green openers early on. Sriraman troubled the batsmen with his pace while veteran bowler Shankar on the other end stuck to his usual good line and length to create a perfect combination of pressure bowling leaving the opposition 26-2 at the 10 over mark. The second change bowlers Vajran Srividyanathan (6.3 -1-7-3) and Kavinkumar Veloopillai (8-1-25-1) carried on the good work and made things even more difficult for the opposition to score freely. Vajran in particular was almost unplayable at times due to his in-swinging left arm deliveries taking 3 wickets for just 7 runs in 6.3 overs. With scores 104 – 4 at the 30 over mark, young Ashwin Sureshan (5-1-23-3) joined Vajran and Sriraman to polish off the tail with 2.3 overs to spare and Ardleigh Green was eventually bowled out for a below par 138.

The reply did not start well when Parks lost opener Fazan Habib (1) on the 4th over and Maran Mariyathas (3) on the 7th over with scores at 18. When young Ibad Usman (18) fell for a in-swinger, attacking batsman Inderjit Singh (33) joined Vajran (43) and put on a partnership of 40 which helped to steady the chase. Vajran once again played a patient innings allowing other batsman to play around him while keeping the eye on the scoreboard. He played a matured innings beyond his age showcasing his temperament and skill required for the senior cricket. Inderjit on the other hand played his usual brute-force attacking cricket including two massive sixes to long-on. When Inder departed for a well caught catch on the boundary line, Lakshmi Narayan (34*) joined Vajran and played an entertaining innings including few lusty blows and number of quick runs between the wickets. Parks crossed the line with 8 overs to spare and with 4 wickets in hand.

This was an all-around clinical performance by the team with an exceptional bowling and fielding effort backed by some very good individual batting performances. However, the star of the show was young Vajran with both the bat and ball. A genuine future star in the making. Parks will visit league toppers Epping next week and look forward to end the season on a high.
