Match report After losing the toss, Parks were invited to bat first by Ardleigh Green at their picturesque Brian Clay Pavilion ground. Opening batsmen Amar Desai and Aryan Desai Jr started the innings cautiously. Young colt Aryan Desai Jr once again showed his batting skills and played some eye pleasing shots scoring 32 including 7 boundaries. Once Amar departed early for a brilliant one-handed catch at slip by opposition skipper Andy, Fazan Habib joined Aryan and played some good shots for his 23 but got out to an unplayable rising delivery by gloving to the keeper. When number four batsman Maran Mariyathas gifted his wicket cheaply by playing one shot too many, with scores at 74-4 ( 20 overs), Inderjit Singh and Gurmit Bhatia joined forces to rebuild the innings. Both played with patience and aggression in equal measures. Inderjit in particular was at his brutal best scoring 80, including 7 huge sixes, most of them dispatched into the woodlands at long on. Gurmit made a well crafted 56 and Parks ended their innings with 245-9 (45 overs).

In reply Ardleigh green’s opener Sivalingam Srikanthakumar came out all guns blazing hitting some big shots early on showing intent. However opening bowler Manicks Shankar (9-1-36-2) cleaned bowled the hard-hitting right hander with a yorker on the 3rd over to put the breaks on. On the other end colt Ashwin Sureshan (11-1-44-0) bowled with pace and bounce and was very unlucky not to pick up any wickets. Wickets were taken at regular intervals by other bowlers until the 30th over and in the end Ardleigh green played out for a draw ending their innings with 177-6. Other 4 wickets were shared by Kavin, Thomas, Gurmit and Maran.

Given the pitch and the ground conditions, a draw is a fair result given both teams are equally matched. A much tougher challenge awaits next week against the league leaders Epping.
