Match report Oakfield parkonians travelled away tonleague leaders Chelmsford. Skipper lost the toss and Parks were made to field on the hottest Saturday this season.
Things started off brilliantly for Oakfield with both openers bowling with great control and skill to stop any fluency for Chelmsfords batters, Sachin Arora (9-2-19-0) bowled really well witht the new nut without any luck. Then the introduction of spin, with Nikhil Mukherjee (9-2-28-1) and Praven Sureshan (7-0-31-0) bowled well turning the ball and confusing the batters on their home pitch. Finally the death bowling from Kavin Veloopillai (2-0-12-3) and Matthew Holland (9-1-35-5) was excellent both varying their pace and lengths to confuse the batters, Matthew Holland also grabbed his first hatrick of his career. Chelmsford finished on 228 off their 45 overs meaning a big effort from Oakfields top order.

OPCC started in the worse possible way quick wickets falling and slumping to 15 for 4. Young buck Ali Khan (87) showed his class and maturity of age batting with great temperament and very unlucky not to his 100, he was ably supported by Kavin Veloopillai (27) until a mix up sent Kavin back to the dugout. These 2 batted with a combination of brute force to hit up and over the infield and well timed shots to beat the men in the ring. Skipper Matthew Holland (40) came to the crease with Parks needing just over a run a ball, him and Ali batted brilliantly, quick singles to fustrate the bowlers and cute dabs and sweeps off the spinners. However, it wasn't meant to be both being dismissed trying to push the run rate. Oakfield fell 16 runs short of the win and now slipped down to 4th. How things could been different if not for the extras (44). Parks need to win 3 from 3 to get promoted so hope is still alive.
