Match report Oakfield Parkonians 3rd XI had their first game of the season and were hoping to bounce back after a disappointing loss last week. Things didn’t start off too well as Parks skipper lost the toss and was made to bowl in the scorching hot sun.
Sachin Arora (6-1-39-1) opened the bowling and carried on his fine form dismissing South Woodfords opener in the 3rd over of the match. However, after this early success Oakfield were put on the back due to the brute power from SW’s number who raised to 50 until a mix up in the middle led to run out by young Navine Sureshan. South Woodford were 150 for 3 at drinks but the introduction of captain Matthew Holland (6.2-1-23-6) and Nimanka De Silva (3-0-24-1) quickly went through their opponents restricting them to 213.
OPCC were confident at the break they could chase down the score, however, they didn’t start off too well losing both openers within the first 4 overs. Badri Srinivasan (34) and Nikhith Poddutoori (51) batted beautifully to steady the ship and get OPCC back on track. The dismissal of Nikhith brought Matthew (43*) to the crease who was supported with Praven Sureshan (26) and Navine Sureshan (15*), these 3 young cricketers showed real maturity and batted all the way through with little to no risk securing the victory for Oakfield Parkonians.
Oakfield travel away to rivals Belhus next week hoping to carry on this fine form and climb the table.
