Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won by 47 runs

Match report OPCC 3rd XI made it two wins out of two in their friendly fixtures with their win against Hornchurch on Saturday.

OPCC won the toss and elected to bat. Alan Bouquet & Krishan Dilipkumar opened and put on a good 48 run partnership for the first wicket before Krishan was stumped on 18. Next in was Sujeev Suganthan who also started well before getting bowled on 16.

Captain Jamie Gordon came in at 4 and himself and vice-captain Alan put on a good 93 run partnership before Jamie was out LBW for 43. Alan continued scoring before getting caught on 75, which made it back-to-back half centuries for him.

Luke Coates batted superbly hitting the shot of the day with a textbook cover drive. Luke hit a quick-fire 51 and opted to retire not out allowing others to bat in the last friendly. Luke was supported at the crease by Nikhith Poddutoori who also scored a good 31 before he was bowled.

OPCC posted 262 runs from their 40 overs losing 7 wickets.

OPCC also started well with the ball & in the field restricting Hornchurch in their run chase. Opening bowlers Jigar Desai & Aman Patel bowled extremely well not giving much away. Hornchurch started to push on a bit coming towards drinks, but after drinks, OPCC re-grouped and got two quick wickets pushing Hornchurch back in their pursuit of the winning target. Kaj Skandamoorthy along with Syed Mutaqueen both bowled well picking up one wicket each one of which was a well taken catch by Jigar Desai at cover.

Sujeev Suganthan was brought onto bowl and keep it tight which he done very well for someone who doesn’t always like to bowl. He also took a great catch at deep mid-on from Santron Thivarahan’s bowling who also bowled well at the end. Pick of the bowlers today though was Aman Patel who ended up with figures of 8-1-31-2. Two fantastic wickets, both of which were bowled.

Great win and team performance and we aim to continue our winning ways into the first league game next weekend.
