Match report Away to Chingford 4s at Peter May on a sunny day.

5s skipper Bal Diocee won the toss and elected to put the opposition in to bat - in the hope that the conditions would make batting easier as the day progressed. Sadly this was not to be the case.

Chingford made a steady start but Amar Desai removed both openers. A mention for Subhash Patel at 1st slip who took a stunning catch at full stretch overhead - only for Daniel Imrans delivery to be called a no-ball for overstepping. Chingfords Bernard Storm (54) and Nick VanArkel (49) then took the game away from Parks in the middle overs with aggressive boundary hitting. Parks were let down by some poor catching and fielding on the boundary - if the catches had been held it could have been a very different outcome.

After removing this dangerous pair Parks steadily took more wickets falling just short of bowling Chingford out taking 9 wickets.

Yash Patel was the pick of the bowlers and the skipper will rue the decision not to bowl him out. Inderjit Singh also bowled well picking up a wicket , Subhash Patel and Amar Desai each picked up 2 and the evergreen Vijay Vijayanathan picked up 3. Extras sadly played a big part (29).

Parks then batted with the openers (Bal Diocee & Aayush Desai) removed cheaply. Amar Desai then steadied the ship with 20 before falling C&B. Nikhith Poddutoori was then joined by Vijay - and both batted beautifully to get the score upto 180 without losing further wickets. If only we had held those catches - this could well have been a successful run-chase.

So - despite a 34 run defeat - some positives - great middle order batting. But a few areas to work on - bowling accuracy and catching.

Next week the 5s travel to play Goresbrook.
