Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost by 46 runs

Match report On a sunny warm day, 4ths travelled to Buckhurst Hill for the penultimate overs match of the season. Parks lost the toss and asked to field on a flat track. Parks opened the bowling attack with the two veteran openers Nav and Shankar and came across two aggressive attacking batsman in Knightly and Mistry. Without much luck early on after the 10th over Parks skipper turned to Santron for his off spin. Santron made immediate impact by removing the opposition skipper caught at point by Colt Krishan Dilipkumar. Second change Aman Patel bowled with pace and movement and removed the the other opening batsman on his first over caught behind by Bhavik. Aman bowled well and picked up 3 key wickets (8 overs 3 for 35). Maran and Colt Kajanathis completed the bowling attack and picked 3 wickets between them. Maran (8 overs 2 for 55). Kaj bowled well in the depth. Special mention also goes to Kaj for an outstanding one handed catch at deep square leg. Truly one for the books.

Buckhurst Hill ended their innings at 239 - 7 after 40 overs. A Pala top scored with a well made 80.

Missing the regular opener Keerthi, Parks opted for a new pair in Bhavik and Gurmit Bhatia to start the proceedings. This experiment did not go well as expected as Gurmit got out on the the very first over playing a cut shot only to hand an easy catch to point. Both Bhavik and Farzan followed suit and Parks found themselves 3 down for 13 after 10 overs. Maran and returning Chetan then steadied the innings and started to build a partnership. However good bowling and fielding by the opposition made scoring difficult in the middle order. Once Maran departed for 17, debutant colt Krishan Dilipkumar joined Chetan and played the best innings of his short time with the seniors this season and made a sparkling 59. His rotation of strike, shot selection and running between the wickets highlighted another future star in the making. A joy to watch and may he continue this good form.

When Chetan departed for a well made 35, Santron joined Krishan and played some attacking shots and made valuable 28. However Parks were 43 runs short in the end and ended the innings at 193-9 after 40 overs picking up some valuable batting and bowling points.

Compared to the usual high standards, Parks did not do well in all three disciplines as a team except for few individual performances. Dropped chances, extras given and scoring at the top order should be addressed in the up coming matches to fine tune the overall performance and to return to winning ways.
