Match report O Parks went into this game with a much-changed team and needed this win to help in our relegation fight. Inexperienced players were drafted in, and Brathwaite took the captaincy for this game. Brathwaite won the toss and inserted the opposition.
Keerthi (8-0-40-0) open the bowling and bowled with good pace and control. Navneeth (8-1-33-1) ever dependable was not at his best but still made the batsman work for their runs. On a flat track, wickets were hard to come by. Seth & Sarankan replaced the openers and Serankan (8-0-28-0) bowled with intelligence and control and kept the scoring rate down. Dilan (8-1-31-1) was brought into the attack and bowled his best spell for the season. He had good control and had all batsmen in trouble. Seth (8-0-44-1) and Navneeth bowled at the death and O Parks managed to keep the score down to a respectable 188.
Parks knew the target was within their reach. Brathwaite and Ali went out hope for a good opening stand, however Ali (2) departed early and was quickly followed by Serankan (0). Mit Patel (20) came and changed the momentum and with Brathwaite took the score into the 40s before being bowled. Again, a wicket followed quickly when Mannan (3) was caught behind, O Parks were rocking at 45-4. Dilan & Brathwaite then set in and slowly dragged parks back into the game with intelligent batting. Taking 1s & 2s and the odd boundary. Needing 90 off 15, the game was in the balance. At 135 Brathwaite (50) mistimed a sweep but with Dilan still there, victory looked possible. However, Keerthi (5) departed quickly and Dilan (46) soon after that. Navneeth went in with 40 needed from 6 overs Ishmael (2) and Surjeev (5) got out in pursuit of the target. With 9 wickets down we thought it was all over but Nav (17*) & Seth (12*) had different ideas. Both played without fear hitting the odd boundary, and taking quick singles by pressuring the field, which caused mistakes. They also rode their luck, but unbelievably brought victory home. It was an excellent team effort. Well done to all.
