Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost by 83 Runs

Match report Old Parks went into this game hoping for a moral boosting win. Harry won the toss and invited Wells to bat. Youngster, Navneeth (12-2-44-0) bowled an excellent opening spell with out any luck. Sahill (10-1-31-3) who is improving week by week bowled with hostility and had all batsmen playing and missing. He plugged away and picked up two early wickets and finished . Top wicket taker, Haaris Shah (16-2-64-3) was brought into the attack also picked up an early wicket. Wells were tottering, but A Gandhi came in and played a very gutsy innings to reach an impressive century. However, he was dropped about 5 times. Somehow, Wells managed to reach 226 in there allotted 50 overs after a strong finish to the innings.
With the pitch playing well Old Parks just needed a couple of decent partnerships to reach victory. Unfortunately it was the same old story of batsman getting in and not pushing on. Brathwaite (25), Markatis (34) and Rohit (31*) were the only scorers of note. This was a game that if we cannot win, we should have been able to bat out a draw. Rohit and Navneeth almost achieved this but we were bowled out with 3 overs left.
We need to dust off and go again next week against a good Brentwood side. It will be a good test for us. We need to show and believe we are a premier league side, starting at Brentwood this weekend. Come on boys we can do this.
