Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost By 7 wickets

Match report After last weeks defeat to Leigh On Sea and other results not going Parks way it meant that the promotion race was over for this year. Parks ended their season with a home game against Orsett and Thurrock. This was probably the youngest side that the first XI has had with 4 U17s in the side. Skipper Paran Kalley lost the toss and was asked to bat first. Other than Selvam Ramasamy who got 50 there weren’t any notable contributions with the bat. Young Krishan Dilipkumar looked bright with the bat and could tell that he was one for the future. Parks ended on 133 for 10 off 41.1 overs. This was a total that the boys felt was well below par and knew the bowlers needed to bowl well to defend this total.

Parks started of the second innings well with Paresh Kalley (3-0-14-1) picking up a wicket in his second over. Nimanka De Silva (6-2-23-0) also impressed with the ball in his first team debut. Mannan Arora (4-0-17-0) also impressed and fully deserved a wicket giving the Orsett batsmen plenty of trouble. In the end Orsett had no troubles in reaching the target of just 32 overs. Once again the Parks batsmen didn’t have enough on the board and we’re asking a lot of the bowlers. This wraps up the 2021 season with the boys finishing in 4th place. Although promotion was the main target for the team, the boys should be proud to finish 4th with a very young and inexperienced side. The boys hope to go again next year and hope to improve on their 4th place position.
