Match report Oakfield Parkonians first team went into this game winning their last 2 games and were looking to make it a 3rd league win of the year against a strong Westcliff-On-Sea team. Skipper Paran Kalley lost the toss and was asked to bat first. It was a beautiful batting track at Parks with the sun beaming down it seemed there was going to be very little in it for the bowlers. Raihan Hussain (88) and Dhruv Patel (38) batted extremely well for the first wicket putting on 79 runs for the first wicket. Parks found themselves 81-2 and this brought Ravi Teja(101*) to the crease. Ravi and Raihan batted well and rotated the strike and this saw our first league 100 of the season. Ravi maneuvered the ball well and hit the big shots when he needed to. In the last 5 overs we scored 45 runs to get to an above par score of 282. Ravi was well supported by Paresh Kalley (27) and Selvam Ramasamy (16*). Parks were confident with the score but we knew it was going to take a strong bowling perfomance to restrict Westcliff-On-Sea.

Parks started the innings in the perfect way with Anujan Thiru (9-1-25-1), making the breakthrough early on. Anujan and Selva both bowled good tight lines and didn't allow the batsmen to utilize the small boundary by sticking to their plans brilliantly. They were well supported by Ravi Raval (9-2-27-2), picking up 2 crucial wickets and getting the ball to turn sharply. The fielding display from Parks was also amazing, not allowing the batsmen to rotate the strike and be able to build partnerships. Westcliff finished on a total of 211 off their 45 overs. This means that we have now won the last 3 games and closed the gap to the two promotion places. Next week is the first timed game of the season agaisnt Frenford which is another must win game for Parks.
