Parks travelled to a scenic ground on a lovely day to play their last game of the season hoping to make another consecutive win. Brentwood won the toss and predictably chose to bat on a flat wicket, however our opening bowlers Thomas Varnes and Sachin Fing making life difficult for the opening batsmen and contained them from scoring but were not able to make any breakthrough. Talal Ali who plays his first league game for the club was introduced early trapped the skipper Kevin Brailey LBW for a well made 27, and bowled the number 3 batsman Joe Paisley for naught and the well set opening batsman Frankie Paisley (27) with an unplayable in swing in quick succession. Talal finished his spell with 3 for 20 in 6 overs. The young Kajanantis Skandamoorthy came into attack found bounce and significant turn to weave his magic and took 4 for 32 in his spell of 6 overs including the gritty batsman Pail Roycroft who made a valuable 33. Daniel Imran and Jamie Bailey also took a wicket a piece and Brentwood were all out for 174…..an excellent effort by the bowlers backed up by fielding and commitment by the youngsters.
Balvinder Diocee and Saching Fing opened up and looked to be positive and in no trouble until Balvinder had a rush of blood after scoring 6 fours in his swash buckling innings of 32 with the score on 59 in 11 overs. He even admired his own shot to the boundary by saying “shot”. That was excellent! Nikhith Poddutoori joined our stylish batsman Sachin Fing and together comfortably added the required 116 to achieve an easy victory with 6.4 overs to spare. Sachin’s slow but effective innings contained some beautiful cover drives and pull shots and Nikith’s mode of attacking shots made home for Parks. Sachin and Nikhith scored their first 50s for the season. Ros Pritchard was the pick of the bowler for Brentwood who took the only Parks wicket conceding only 12 runs in his spell of 6 overs. The game was played in a good spirit and thanks to Brentwood for their excellent hospitality.
