Match report OPCC 5th XI lost to Chelmsford CC 5th XI by 31 runs in a 40 over game played at Fords.
Chelmsford won the toss and decided to bat first on a flat pitch
Parks didn’t quite get over the line chasing a modest total of 194 posted by the visitors, despite excellent spells from Nav Kalley ( 2 for 26) Aman Patel (2 for 33) and the young Syed Muttaqueen ( 4 for 23) contained the visitors from scoring runs and had them 66 for 5 in 20 overs.
In the last 20 overs, Parks failed to capitalise on a good start, as Chelmsford took advantage of the poor bowling and fielding, were able to accelerate to 194 in 50 overs. Ryan Cheverall (42) and Alex Bailey (38 no) coming in late order, were the main contributors to the score.
In reply Parks lost two early wickets within the first 13 overs when the score was 42. However, opening batsman Amar Desai (61)and Sachin Fing (29) steadied the ship with some excellent batting between them and propelled the score to 109 but both batsmen departed in quick succession. Parks needing 86 runs in 12 were unable to keep the momentum as lost the remaining wickets short of 31 runs to the target. Matt Spinks was the pick of the bowler for Chelmsford whose late spell of 6 overs earned him 4 wickets for 23 runs.
