Match report OPCC 4’s Lost to Ilford 3’s by 4 wickets 


Parks were put into bat after losing the toss. Weather condition was hot (30c). Outfield was dry. It was always going to be challenging against Ilford in many different fronts. Nikhil Mukherjee & Santron Thivaharan opened the batting. Number 3 bat Sujeevan Suganthan played a well constructed innings, scoring 19. Skipper George Christian put in another solid innings, scoring 33. After that Parks abating was disappointing. Middle order collapsed. At this point Parks were 101 for 7. Keerthi Thangavel (No 8) and Amanjit Singh (No 10) came to Park’s rescue. Keerthi playing some lovely shots, Amanjit played a well disciplined innings. Towards the end Keerthi suffered a back injury, causing the run rate to slow down. Keerthi went on to get his first 50 of the season (53). Impressive Amanjit scoring 19, not out.  Considering the middle order collapse Parks manage to score 188 and played the full 40 overs. Second highest scorer was the Extras (44).


Unfortunately Parks gifted 52 extras to the opposition. Young spinner Nikhil bowled well, keeping the run rate down. He also took a catch at square leg. 

Sujeevan was excelled on the field, at times putting his body on the line. Commitment was there for all to see. Amanjit kept well in the later part of the game. Took an impressive catch behind the wickets, only for that to be given not out. Bhavik Trivedi and Santron both bowled well and picking up wickets. Eventually lford reaching 189 on 38.5 over, with 4 wickets in hand. Parks 4’s did very well to take the Ilford 3’s to 39 over, but paid for not scoring enough runs. Improvement required on all 3 fronts if we are to win games against good  quality oppositions. Keerthi showed his class and skillful performance by utilizing the majority of the overs with excellent partnership with Amanjit Singh to sail Parks through a respected total. George & Sujeevan making worthwhile contributions.
