Match report Oakfield 3’s set out looking for their first win of the season with everyone feeling confident today would be the day. As has been the case all season thus far, Oakfield lost the toss and were put into field.

Oakfield started strongly with four quick wickets before Woodford Wells put on a strong partnership for the 5th wicket which steadied their innings. Anuj Tewari got the break-through with a well-watched catch by Amanjit Singh to break the partnership. The other batsmen was looking set for his ton before Charith Jatia got him out in his second spell with a great reflex catch in the covers from the skipper Jamie Gordon which was hit with a lot of force.

Charith got another wicket shortly after with another well-watched catch by Teerath Diocee which got him his five wicket haul after his three brilliant wickets in his first spell which helped Oakfield off to the start they did with another wicket by way of a catch by Mannan Arora and two by way of bowled, lovely in swinging yorker’s. Charith finished up with figures of 8-2-30-5. A truly brilliant bowling performance.

In reply, Oakfield were confident they could chase the score on what seemed to be a lovely batting wicket and outfield. They got off to a good start again with the bat before Ali Khan was run out on 14 when he was looking calm and collected at the crease. Next in was Mannan Arora who settled in quickly and him and Alan put in a good partnership before Alan was caught in the covers for 36 after helping Oakfield off to their great start.

In at four was Teerath Diocee after while away from the game but it didn’t take him long to find his feet and was looking like he never had time away. Scoring quickly, with five 4’s and two 6’s he totalled 38 before getting bowled. Was a great batting performance whilst it lasted.

Jonathan Balakumar came in at five looking to get his first real runs of the season and it was a truly brilliant batting performance. Again, scoring quickly, he raced to his fifty and ended up with 62 and hitting six 4’s and four 6’s with one going onto the roof of the clubhouse before getting out near the end by getting caught. Amanjit Singh came into bat and finished the innings off with a well hit shot through the offside for four runs.

The star batter was Mannan Arora who throughout the innings after coming in at three, batted sensibly, with a lot of confidence and played some brilliant shots to steady the ship for Oakfield finishing up on 63 NO to see them through to their first win of the season.
