Match report Oakfield Parkonians were away this week against Frenford who are the first team this year that are in the same division as us, with weather conditions being cold and gloomy throughout the whole day and chance of showers later on, captain Haris Khan won the toss and elected to bat first. Neil Brathwaite (43) started the innings well getting us off to a great start once again with a partnership with Dhruv Patel (31). The weather conditions suited the bowlers and this would be the same for the 2n innings, Parks knew a total over 150 would be a hard chase on this wicket which had a lot in it for the spinners and the opposition had 6 spinners which wasn't easy to play. We managed to get 174- 8 off 40 overs with good cameos from Paran Kalley (28), Selvam Ramasamy (17) and Tarunpreet Bhatia (14). With Parks having 3 spinners we had a strong chance of containing the runs and defending this target. Frenford chased well and at times looked to the dominate the game, spinners Ravi Raval (8-1-28-3) and Abdul Razzaq 8-0-16-1) were the pick of the bowlers for the ones and helped Parks defend this total. Brilliant death bowling from Anujan Thiru and Selva meant that Frenford needed to go at 7 runs per over to get the required 175 to win. 8 was needed off the last over and Anujan kept a cool head, he varied his lengths and pace and made it incredibly difficult for the Frenford batsmen. Anujan bowled extremely well and and Parks won by 2 runs. This was an well deserved and overdue win something that was a longtime coming and always good to get over your local rivals. Parks look forward to another team they will see a lot of next year South Woodford and hope to add their first win of the season.
