Match report Oakfield Parkonians travelled to Essex premier league table toppers in the quarter final of the cup. A great day out and a test for our players to see what level we were at. We also travelled with numerous support with many members coming to watch us, which added plenty to the atmosphere and also gave a big boost for the Parks team. Parks won the toss and had a bowl.

The opening pair of Eshun Kalley and Selvam Ramasamy bowled brilliantly but with zero luck. Beating the edge regularly but no luck as no edges were not found. Parks carried on bowling well with all acquitting themselves very well. Sadly Parks fielding let them down as dropped catches cost parks dearly. If Parks had took the catches its pretty sure we would have been chasing under 200 but this was not to be and they posted 284.


Parks went in to bat to face Aussie first class star Nick Winter. However, things did not go as Brentwood expected as Parks were the first team to nullify and score runs of him this year. Shawn Tuitt batted superbly to get us of to a good start with 57 well scored runs. However, star of the show was our first class overseas Ravi Teja who batted like a dream to score 94 of the best runs you will ever see. Sadly he was run out for 94 in a rather dubious call when victory seemed very much in sight. In the end we scored 270 aided by a late cameo from Anujan Thiru who also bowled excellently. This was the highest total scored v Brentwood this year, as the previous best was 131.
So Parks lost by only 14 runs and gave the big guns in the premier league a big fright. Take those catches and frankly victory was ours but it was not meant to be and the mother of all shocks was not ours. A great day and great performance heeds well for future games. A big thank you to all those who came to support us, as it made the day even more special.
