Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won By 56 Runs

Match report Oakfield were given an early opportunity to get back to winning ways following Friday’s defeat in the Dennis Peters Cup. Barking won the toss and put Oakfield into bat.

Reuben Chandy soon set about the bowling, hitting five 4’s before retiring on 31. There was no let-up for Barking as Talha Raja joined Amanjit Singh (24) in the middle and was the second batsman to retire when on 30. Suleman Shaheen hit 22 before he was caught and bowled, and for the second match running Karandeep Bansel threw caution to the wind hitting 13 not out. Oakfield finished their innings on 138 for the loss of only 4 wickets.

This proved a daunting figure for the Barking batsmen, made worse by an opening maiden from Suleman in a 4 over spell which only conceded 6 runs and produced a wicket. At the 10 over mark Barking only had 39 runs on the board. Zubair Raja (3.3-0-7-3) and Jamie Bailey (2-0-3-3) both had inspirational spells giving them 3 wickets apiece to finish Barking’s innings. Barking were all out for 82 in 18.3 overs; a win for Oakfield by 56 runs.
