Match report

Oakfield hosted Newham this morning &  with a turnout of only 7 players,  the prospects for Oakfield were not looking promising. Oakfield elected to bat after winning the toss, however disaster struck early as three wickets were ousted by the 5th over. With only three wickets in hand Parks’ Navine Sureshan & Prajen Kavinkumar rose to the challenge & held the game steady making a partnership of 67 between them by the 16th over. Unfortunately Navine was LBW’d just 8 runs short of his 50. 

Prajen soldiered on with Haider Bin-Vakas but was bowled on the 18th over, leaving Zain Arghandawi as the last wicket, who was bowled not long after during the 19th over.

Haider came away not out with Parks putting up a decent 148 runs on the scoreboard. 


It was Newham’s turn to bat & a quick wicket by Haider Bin-Vakas 3-0-18-2 alarmed Newham. Haider was looking dangerous with his pace bowling, of which Prajen Kavinkumar 3-0-17-2 caught as the batsman edged it.

Newham changed their style & played sensibly till the 10th over which saw Prajen bowl the batsman out, however what initially seemed a challenging score to chase, quickly became Newham’s match as their score was climbing rapidly. Parks were struggling with their plan of taking wickets, given their team was incomplete. 

Nonetheless, Ayaan Usman 4-0-23-2 & spinner Navine Sureshan changed the game 4-0-13-3 from the 14th over with a clean bowl & an LBW each, followed by another wicket caught & bowled by Ayaan. The last three wickets were taken by Navine & Prajen ending the game during the 21st over in a nail biting finish.


Newham scored 141-9 making Parks the winners by 8 runs.
