Match report Park’s faced Theydon Bois for this Sunday’s fixture. Park’s stand in captain Gurmit won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first Park’s did not start well, with the loss of three early wickets in quick succession. This saw Tarun Bhatia take the crease who went on to make an aggressive but sensible 60 which included 10 fours & a six. Alongside Tarun was Usman Rafiq who battled well to contribute 45 (N.O) valuable runs, helping Park’s to a respectable total of 181 from their allotted 40 overs.

Over tea Park’s felt that 181 was an above average score on a pitch that was difficult to score runs on. Young colt Ashwin (4-0-27-0) and Ibrahim Iqbal (3-0-20-1) opened the bowling and bowled well at times but there wasn’t much in the pitch for the seamers. With the opposition batsmen looking comfortable and the run rate comfortably over what was required, Park’s needed to slow the game down and make scoring runs difficult. This is exactly what Tahir Razzaq (7-0-16-1) and Sreeroop Maniyath (8-0-24-4) accomplished. Sreeroop kept on picking up wickets at regular intervals but the opposition still managed to keep the required run rate below 5. In response Park’s introduced Yash Patel (7-0-28-2) who chose to bowl spin today (usually bowls pace) and did a superb job, taking 2 crucial wickets. With the game still in the balance Park’s introduced George Christian (3-0-11-1) who as always bowled particularly well to keep Theydon Bois at bay, taking the game to the very last over. Park’s collectively managed to keep their nerves, and by doing so won by 5 runs.
