Match report On a beautiful August bank holiday weekend, we travelled over to play the top of the league Epping at their home ground. Located on the edge of the Epping forest their ground was compact and having beaten them earlier in the season we were set for a competitive days play. Parks won the toss and put the opposition into bat.

The Epping batsmen started aggressively, but some smart bowling by the Parks opening bowlers Yashes (9-67-2) and Inderjit (6-31-1) soon had the opposition 3 down inside 10 overs. During the middle overs the young colt Charith (5-21-2) who was the pick of the bowlers, and Anuj (12-54-2) for a short while managed to slow down the scoring, but the Epping side showed why they are the top of the league, despite losing regular wickets, they kept the scoring rate up and used the short boundaries effectively and finished as they had started declaring at 240 of 42 overs.

With the short boundaries and a true pitch, parks fancied their chances and the openers, Jeevan (39) and Inderjit (6) started positively dispatching anything loose to the boundary, in particular Jeevan displayed good intent and unleashed some blistering drives, this though was followed by a mini collapse, leaving parks 5 down in the 20th over with the score at 72. With Anuj and Sam on the crease, it was decided that 168 runs of 23 overs was unlikely, the Home team sensing this brought the field in and this allowed good scoring opportunities, Anuj (49) helping himself to to his highest score for the club and the the young Sam (11) showing great technique and steely determination and both shared a 75 run partnership and stayed on till the 42 over, to earn a draw and 6 points.
