Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won By 12 runs

Match report Parks 4s travelled to Gidea Park CC for this weeks fixture. Yet again Parks Captain lost the toss, and was asked to bat first.

Opening with Bhavik Trivedi & Chetan Patel, Parks lost Bhavik in the 2nd over. Next in was Santoron who along with Chetan went onto steady the innings and together put on a 56 runs partnership, Santoron falling for a decent 20. With this Vice Captain Maran joined Chetan, consolidating further, taking the score to 90, Chetan being caught behind the wicket for well made 36. Maran was then joined by Captain Gurmit. With Maran playing very well, Gurmit decided to take the back seat, and watch Maran play a superb 54 from the non strikers end. With the fall of Maran, Gurmit who made 42, was joined by Amar Desia (27) and afterwards Pranav Khetia (16). Both Amar and Pranav made invaluable contributions, allowing for Parks to reach a respectable total of 225 of the allotted 40 overs.

In response, Gidea Park made a great effort but luckily for Parks fell short by only 12 runs- 213 for 5 of the 40 overs. All the Park bowlers were put under tremendous pressure by the opposition, with their openers putting on a 100 plus run partnership. Parks were struggling to get wickets but did manage to keep the run flow in check but Gidea Park were looking the more likely team to win. At this point Parks bowlers Santoron and Pranav kept the pressure on Gidea Park, but it was the stand out bowler for the day Chetan who followed up his well made 36 at the top of the innings with a 8 over spell for 33 runs, capturing 3 crucially wickets. The others two Gidea Park wickets were runs out. Chetan’s 3 wickets coupled with a tight 39th and 40th overs from Jigar & Nav enabled Parks to victory.

It’s fair to say that Parks having put on 225, did not expect to be pushed so hard; much credit to Gidea Park for the effort they put in during the run chase, making the game a very enjoyable one.
