Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won By 194 runs

Match report On the hottest day of the year so far Parks hosted Upminster CC who sat only 20 points behind us at the start of the match.

Parks Captain once again lost the toss, and were asked to bat first by the opposition. Parks were boosted by the return of regular openers Chetan and Bhavik. Unfortunately Bhavik fell early today, which bought in Farzarn Habib. Chetan & Farzarn went onto to put on a superb 134 run partnership with Farzarn falling first for a well crafted 64 (Farzarn 1st club 50), and soon after Chetan for a well paced 79. Next in Vice Captain Maran sensed the mood of the moment and contributed with a excellent 40 to propel Parks to 236 of its allocated 40 overs.

Parks were very confident that they would be able to defend 236, but had no idea that the defence would be complete within 15 overs. Parks opened with Jigar and Shanker. On the day Jigar was simply too hot to handle, taking 6 wickets for only 9 runs in 6 overs. It’s fair to mention that two of the six wickets were aided by superb catches taken by Samuel Varnes and Amar Desai. The last 4 wickets were shared between young Inder (3-0-12-2) & Qasim (2-0-6-2) with the Qasim taking a wickets with his 1st ball. With this Upminster were bowled out in the 15th over for only 42 runs, resulting in a 194 runs victory for Parks.

We now move onto next weeks away fixture V Brentwood CC hoping to consolidate on this result, and by doing so, keep pace with the leagues current front runners West Essex.
