Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won By 150 runs

Match report On a perfect day for cricket Parks traveled to local rivals Loughton CC. Parks won the toss and decided to bat first.

Parks openers Bhavik & Chetan started with intent putting on a 35 run partnership within 7 overs, before Bhavik uncharacteristically went for a difficult 2nd run, and got himself runout for 21. Next in Vice Captain Maran continued the good start and along with Chetan moved the score to 76, Chetan shortly afterwards bowled for a well made 25. Maran was then joined by Sreeroop who played some sweet shots before being caught for 20, leaving Parks at 106 for 3 in the 22nd over. Soon after Maran departed for 24, bringing Parks Captain Gurmit to the middle to join Keerti. Gurmit (36 out) and Keerti (13 out) went about steading the position but unfortunately for Parks they kept on loosing wickets at regular intervals, and were unable to play the allocated 45 overs and were bowled out in the 40th over for 191.

Parks defence of the set target was robust from the beginning, with all 4 bowlers contributing well, Loughton were bowled all out for only 49 in the 30th over. Wicket wise the main contributors today being Nav & Anuj. Nav bowled as always with great precision and by doing so managed another 5 wicket haul (& jug) (8-3-21-5) and Anuj bowled with pace & aggression, ending up with 3 wickets (7-6-9-3). The other two bowlers Jigar (8-4-15-1) & Shanker (7-4-3-1) were unlucky not to have taken more wickets. The proverbial saying that ‘catches win matches’ was proven to be true today- Had Parks not taken the 6 catches, it may easily have been a different story, luckily on the day the batting was backed up a superb bowling and fielding display, which resulted in a 150 run victory, against a very good Loughton side.

Parks now move onto hosting 2nd in the table West Essex next week, with Parks hoping to register their 4th consecutive win.
