Match report Parks lost the toss, but were surprisingly inserted on a very hot day at Southchurch Park. Parks took full toll of the opportunity as Southend suffered int he heat. Openers Alan Bouquet (38) and Reuben Chandy (25) put on 60 for the first wicket, and this platform was added to with another anchor innings from Usman Rafiq (71*), who batted through the rest of the innings. Luke Coates ably supported him with 35, as did Santron Divaharan (18) and George Christian (23*). 232 runs were added int he 45 overs, to set SOuthend a very challenging total.

Nav Kalley bowled tidily at the top (8 ovs for 20), whilst Talha Raja bowled with pace to pick up 2 wickets. The spinners however were the key, tying down the batsman and ensuring Southend never reached the target. George Christian (3/24) and Zubair Raja (3/30) did a good job and this was backed up with some good fielding (for a change).

Parks are only 15 points of the promotion spots and next weeks sees 3rd placed Loughton visit Oakfield.
