Match report This was a big game for Parks away from home as before a ball had been bowled 2 points separated the 2 teams. Parks won the toss and elected to bowl first as with the 35 yard boundary, defending a target wouldn't seem easy. Shenfield started their innings as they meant to go on. They immediately put Parks on the back foot and no bowler really found their rhythm. Tarun did well to pick up 4 wickets and bowled the right length at times. But a mixture of some very poor fielding and a load of drop catches mixed with 2 batsmen from Shenfield going for a big target meant that Parks had to get 367 to win off their 45 overs.

Parks started the chase off well keeping up with the run rate and getting off to a brillant start. However, Parks lost 3 wickets in as many overs and Shenfield seemed to have the upper hand. However Haris Khan (63) and Sahil Handa (64) took Parks closer and closer to the target. They ran well between the wickets and although the run rate was slowly increasing to 10 runs per over, Parks still kept up with it and were confident of reaching this mammoth total. At drinks Parks were 132-3 and were looking to increase the runs as they had over 200 runs to get with only half the overs remaining. When Parks lost Sahil and Haris it meant two new batsmen were in at the crease and the run rate now being at 13 runs per over. However a quick partnership off 65 runs between Sifth (34) and skipper Paran (48) meant Parks still put the pressure on Shenfield despite losing regular wickets. All of the lower end batsmen tried their hardest to try and get closer to the total but for a team to not score over 200 runs all season and end up getting 347 was a tremendous effort from the Parks team. If we were better in the field and held on to some of our catches it would've been a different outcome. But Parks really took it to Shenfield and with over 700 runs being scored inside 90 overs meant it was a brilliant game of cricket and one Parks could've very easily won. Parks look forward to their trip away to Ilford next week with loads of batsmen having confidence after putting on such a good show with the bat.
