Match report On a pleasant summers day at Old Brentwoods, parks traveled with hope as they were newly placed in second. Parks won the toss and batted.

The opening partnership was good taking us to 50 with the main man being Shawn Tuitt who blasted 40 of 44 balls to propel us of to a flyer. He hit a mixture of power shots all hit crisply to the boundary to continue his excellent recent form. Then the rest of innings was catered for by the Indian overseas professional who once again showed all the art of batsman ship as he scored a 125 of 125 balls. A sheer delight seeing Ravi stroke the ball to all parts with controlled run making in a risk free manner. This meant we posted a good 263. However, the track was very flat and good, plus it did feel we did not somehow finish as we wanted and were perhaps 20 runs short of what could have been.

So Parks went in to the field and Old Brentwoods went of to a flyer scoring runs at will and steaming well ahead of the run rate and putting parks under big pressure. However, the introduction of spin brought some control for the first time as the runs started to not flow and get squeezed. This was due to spin twins Abdul Razzaq and Ravi who strangled the runs. Followed up by Shawn Tuitt who also spun it hard and put the brakes on them to a certain extent to display his all rounder qualities. Thus wickets were picked up steadily but still Old Brentwoods stayed in the hunt and eeked along. And then it came to the final over with Old Brentwoods fair play to them still in it with 14 runs needed to win in the last over. But up stepped Selvam Ramasamy to bowl a pin point yorker to grab the final wicket and the win, as he took 3 wickets in 2 overs to clean up the tail and see us home.

Thus an epic win in a great game played in great spirit by both teams. This meant parks stayed in second and continued their promotion hopes. We host Benfleet at home next sat hoping to avenge our earlier loss v them in 2nd v 4th in yet another big game.
