Match report Oakfield Parkonians Sunday A beat Forest Gate CC by 23 runs in a 40 over match played on a lovely sunny day at Oakfield .
Having won the toss Parks batted first, made an impressive start as Mathew Holland and Tariq Jameel put on an opening partnership of 59 in 13 overs. After Mathew’s departure for 23 Parks lost two more wickets in quick succession which left Parks reeling on 83 for 3 after 18 overs. However the incoming batsman Ravi Teja who is in a tremendous form with the bat put on an excellent partnership of 141 with Tariq Jameel in 15 overs before Jameel was out LBW for 94. Ravi raced his 100, probably the quickest one of the season and retired on 101. Cameo innings from Eashwar (21) and Fazan (15 no) towards the end enabling Parks to post a big score 285 in 40 overs.
In reply Parks had a reasonable start with the ball as Inderjit (8-2-30-2) opening the bowling with Avinash removed the opening batsmen despite that they looked dangerous, particularly Zafran (38) hit the ball hard to all around the ground and put on a valuable partnership 68 with number 3 batsman Mahood (44). Change of bowling brought to the end of Mahoon as Kashif Choudhary claimed his first ever wicket for the Parks, His ultra slow bowling earned him an another wicket as the visitors had a mini collapse in the middle order before the skipper Sultan Sharif (64)and Yosuf (53) steadied the ship and looked on course to reaching the target. The introduction of Eshwar (5-37-3) and Ravi Teja (6-23-1) paid dividend as they wrapped up the last four wickets to give Parks a convincing victory by 23 runs.
The game was played in a very friendly manner and the opposition expressed their gratitude for hosting an excellent game. They were very impressed with the club facilities and the friendliness of our players.
