Match report Oakfield Parkonians 4th XI beat Mathews by 38 runs in a pre-season friendly at Oakfield.

Parks 152 all out in 38.2 overs; Mathews 114 all out.

Parks lost the toss and asked to bat first on a hot afternoon. Having lost the opener Bal Diocee in the very first ball of the innings, Parks struggled to score against the opening bowler Cloude and lost two more early wickets when the score was 15 after 5 overs. The pitch played uneven bounces at various time but mostly the ball kept very low. Despite the difficult batting condition, Parks made a solid 152 runs with the main innings coming from Inderjit Singh who made a quick fire 49 with an excellent support from Shahid Khan who scored a slow but steady useful 36. The colts Adnan and Adrian coming at the tail end impressed with their batting performances despite playing their first game in a senior side. Cloude and Mitchell were the successful bowlers for Mathews taking 3 wickets apiece.

In reply, both the opening bowlers bowled a very tidy spell with Jigar Desai finishing with 6-1-23-2 and Anuj Tiwari (5-1-24-0). Bhavik Trivedi kept up the pressure with figures of 4-0-10-2 and Adrian chipped in with 5-0-15-1. Opposition struggled to score runs as Parks continued with some excellent bowling and bowled them out for 114. The new comer Easwar and the acting captain Vijay wrapped up the inning by taking the last 5 wickets between them. The opening batsman DJ top scored with 26 for Mathews. It was a good win for Parks before the league starts next week. The game was played in good sprit.
