Match report This week Parks visited the table topping Brentwood knowing a tough challenge awaits.

Stand in skipper Shankar won the toss and elected to field with the view to restrict the ‘batsmen heavy’ Brentwood. Jigar Desai (7 overs 37 for 1) was joined by the new ‘speed kid on the block’ Keerthikan Thangavel (8 overs 43 for 1) and kept the opening batsman at bay with some very tight bowling. At the 10 over mark the score limped to 32-1 with Keerthi removing the opening batsman caught by Shakar at covers. 7 bowlers were used in small spells to counter the heat and the batsmen and the scoring was somewhat kept under control until the 34th over. Both Chetan Patel (8 overs 42-1) and Shahid Khan (7 overs 42-0) bowled well for Parks.

With the score at 193 - 5 with 6 overs to spare in came the Brentwood talisman Mo Aqeel who played his usual swash buckling cameo innings hitting a rapid 60 which took the final score to 289-5. Opener Ashely Maxwell top scored with 94.

In reply Parks started the innings well with Bhavik and Chetan who maintained the required run rate until Bhavik (14) played a foul shot on the 8th over and gifted an easy catch to the bowler with the score at 44. A slow rebuild process was started but parks lost regular wickets along the way until Keerthi (No 7) and Jigar (No 8) came to the crease with the score at 113- 6. What happened next was nothing but pure magic with both batsman taking the attack to the Brentwood’s bowlers playing some fiery T20 style shots putting on a partnership over 100 scoring 53* and 50* respectively. Other notable contributions came from Chetan (23) and VJ (19).

Once again the ‘Mo Aqeel effect’ was the difference. After 40 overs Parks fell 65 runs short but can be proud of the way they have fought against the top team in the league.
