Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost By 59 Runs

Match report Newham won the toss and decided to bat. Despite some early tight bowling by Talha Raja (6-0-28-0) Newham were able to keep the runs ticking over; the first wicket fell in the eighth over, lbw to Andrien Amirthanayagam (6-0-43-2), with 37 runs on the board. With the introduction of the new batsman(109, c. Talha, b. Umar) Newham started to pile on the runs and Oakfield inexperience began to tell. Umar (6-0-33-3) took two further wickets and there was also a wicket for Amanjit Singh (6-0-51-1). Newham completed their innings after 30 overs on a massive 236 for the loss of 7 wickets.
Oakfield's opening batsmen set about their task in a sprightly manner and were well up with the required run rate until Reuben Chandy was out caught on 40; Talha (8) was bowled shortly after. Samuel Varnes (54) joined Andrien (5) in the middle and both batsmen looked comfortable until Andrien was given out when the bails were taken off by the bowler when backing up! Samuel left his best innings of the season to last, not only encouraging and managing the younger batsmen he also hit a couple of well timed sixes. Unfortunately he was running out of partners and was out to a fine catch on the boundary when going for another big hit. Oakfields innings finished on 177 for 9 after 30 overs; a dissapointing end to the season but with the promise of good things to come with this batch of U11's.

Newham ran out winners by 59 runs.
