South Woodford v Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 10 Jun 2017 at 12.30pm
Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won by 2 wickets

Match report On a hot day with Parks missing 6 players, we turned up to South Woodford on the back of 3 good results.

Stand-in skipper, J Patel, won the toss and elected to field keeping to a formula that had worked in recent weeks.

The wicket was slow, but S Ali (10-0-36-3) and R Karuna (10-0-53-0) toiled away in the first 14 overs. 2 early wickets from Sifth pegged back South Woodford, however their 3 & 4 found a partnership reaching 120-2. Paresh Kalley (6-0-29-2) then got the vital breakthrough bowling S Umar on 47 after M Holland (9-1-33-1) and Aman Ali (15-0-62-3) had tied him up at the other end. Continued pressure from A Ali kept the wickets falling at the other end, with Paresh and Matt picking up in quick order. Bowling was backed up by some very good ground fielding (particularly Jaydeep & Dhruv), however catching let Parks down again as Aman Ali had 4 catches dropped off him in the outfield as he looked a desperate figure (something the boys need to work on)! However, he continued to toil picking up 3-62 off 15 overs. South Woodford were 190-6 with 10 overs to go and Parks did fantastically well to restrict them for 220-9 off their 50 overs.

Knowing we batted deep, Parks started with intent but Sachin Vara's eyes lit up early, but he walked back to pavilion after misjudging a length ball. Dhruv Patel (69) and Shane Vamedevan (40) batted with class and purpose racking the runs quickly. Parks were 92-1 off 12 overs (another great start) after Shane nicked off to the keeper. Parks middle order didn't offer much resistance after some good leg-spin bowling got rid of Jaydeep & Amit in quick succession. Paresh (19) and Dhruv consolidated, but Dhruv played a tired looking shot getting caught at long-on leaving Parks 150-5 with 20 overs to go. 70 runs with 5 wickets to go. Unfortunately Paresh fell to a misjudged run out and then skipper Jai Patel came in with batting still to come. Aman (19) and Jai put on a 40 run partnership in 7 overs and took the game away from South Woodford. A few last minute jitters as Aman and Sifth both fell quickly, leaving Jai (35*) and Ronan (0) to calmly finish the game with 6 overs to spare.

A strong win and complete team performance, the third week in a row chasing 200 or more. Parks go into next week confident with 4/5 players coming back into the fold.
