Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won By 31 runs

Match report Oakfield Parks arrived for this friendly v might Buckurst Hill who had just come down from the Premier League and are the bookmaker’s favourites to win Division One this year. They boasted one of the best players in the league in ex FC player Hendro Puchert. On a pitch which was most certainly bowler friendly, Parks batted first.

Parks struggled to 66 for 6 and fear of a low total was on. But a superb rear guard knock from Aman Ali to secure a fifty rescued the team. He counter attacked with positivity and aggression to surprise the opposition. Some mighty blows cleared the rope with ease. This was then followed up by a composed knock from Selvam Ramasamy at number 10 to get 35 not out. This highlighted the strength of Parks batting line up. Earlier Paran Kalley hit a quick fire 33 to also impress. This meant Parks recovered to post a challenging 170 on this spicy track.

Bucks opened up with former parks player Hermes who Eshun got out to mean he did not trouble the scorers. Eshun Kalley and Selvam Ramasamy paired together strangled Bucks and made life very tough and got the team of to a good start. Eshun Kalley in particular bowled a yard quicker then last year and with increased accuracy, good omens for a big year for the Essex man who was the pick of the bowlers. However, the turning point of the match was Jibran Azam coming on to grab 4 wickets which included the big scalp of Hendro and the even bigger scalp of former Parks player Omar!! Although the skipper nabbed the 4 wickets it must also be mentioned that bowlers work in pairs and Aman Ali show cased his abilities with the ball as well with a tight controlled spell to mean runs had totally dried up and hence the collapse. A great all round game for Aman Ali who got a 50 and bowled excellent. Bucks went from 98 for 1 to all out for 131, only 2 Bucks players made double figures.

A good win against tough opposition means good signs. Next week away to premier league Shenfield in the cup who will provide an even bigger challenge.
